That’s what I want to do with my life, I want to give people octopus I Know everyone welcome to my vegan experiment, which is my channel to do with conservation scuba-diving veganism yoga health conservation and our December Today is a bit of a different video, and it’s actually more of a story time video where I wanted to share with you My journey into scuba diving actually was requested to do this video, so thank you so much for the lovely comment. How did I? Get into scuba diving. It’s now been nine and a half years Ten countries and over 600 dives later. Yeah, it’s been the best thing I ever did it started a long time ago on a school trip when I went to the South of France One of the activities we did was go on a teeny little dive about 15 minutes Discover scuba dive just off the beach in the South there was nothing there But set however at this point the instructor that I was with actually found an octopus, and he was holding this octopus and Put in my hands in that Moment I knew that’s what I wanted to do with my life. I want to give people octopus That was before I found out that you shouldn’t touch things in the ocean, so please don’t touch things But whoever that instructor was thank you so much for changing the course of my life Then my journey proceeded in this place which is on the Great Barrier Reef Pro dive Cannes I actually got my open water certification in April of 2008 when I was a little weeny little Eighteen year old girl as you can see from the photos I was the youngest one there by about ten years And I remember smashing the theory exams doing really well in the pool sessions to them perceiving into the ocean I was Obsessed and in love and I told my mom then when I graduate high school when I turn 18 I’m going to move to Australia and be in scuba diving instructor I’m a lot like my mom so what I told for this she knew that I meant it And she knew this was a goal that I would stick to ever since then everything will I did was to reach this goal so My next few dives included wreck diving in Finland, and then when I was 16 I got to go back to the Great Barrier Reef again Pro dive Kenz and did my Advanced Course there I met some of the most fantastic instructors ever which just boosted my desire to join this incredible industry Sure enough when I was 18 I got accepted to the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia And I moved there immediately I did my rescue course I did my dive masters in Thailand actually that winter break, and then I did my instructor course of April 2013 I Remember I was going through a really rough time in April I had just come out of a relationship, but one of my best friends Robin called me and she said you have to do this Doing your course is going to distract you you’re gonna feel better, and I can’t explain to you How thankful I am to this day that she convinced me to get on that course Three weeks later three intensive grazing weeks later. I was on the Gold Coast in Australia Holding my certification. I had done extremely well in all my exams if my theory my can find pool in my open water I felt at home in the water and since then I have Continued teaching and diving all throughout, Australia I’ve had so many incredible experiences since then including Go dad for has been actually sending me on a work trip to Vanuatu so being able to see a whole new world country and their coral look this year I spent a lot of time in Cambodia where I got some partaken projects including installing an artificial reef and doing big ocean cleanups Basically anywhere. I dive I try and do some ocean cleanups I try and get to know the local environments and learn as much as I can Recently I was actually in the Bahamas at Florida where I did shark diving for the first time and that was Amazing however unlike in Australia in that part of the world they actually bait the Sharks to come and do Dives with you I’m still a little bit torn about the situation and I’ll be including a whole different video about my thoughts about baiting sharks so for Any divers out there who are wondering what it’s like to become an instructor or kind of how to? Get there I would recommend Just keep diving get into any experience that you can volunteer at your local dive club quite often universities have dive clubs and when you Volunteer you get discounted or maybe even a free dive out of it so get in there diving is an extremely expensive sport But there are definitely ways of making it cheaper by volunteering and helping out Thank you so much for watching this video, and if you are considering getting into diving Or you want to get further into diving. Please feel free to leave any comments I would love to answer any questions that you have if you want more information on any particular course or any particular Experience or anything at all. I’m more than happy to talk about my diving experiences. I love the ocean I hope that together we can really make a change and cut down that carbon cut down that plastic just Try and preserve the beauty of our reefs for the next generation and for many generations to come Thank you so much for watching if you’re curious about Any zero waste stuff any conservation stuff kind of click on any of these videos? Please give like comment share you know You know how it goes

  1. I've been snorkeling, but I'm afraid of scuba diving. My friend's dad died of the bends when she was five and they were on vacation. I have been working on overcoming my fears over the last few years. I guess I should dive sometime…any tips?

  2. This is awesome! Thank you so much for finally telling your story! I am currently 18 and am in the process of college admissions and auditions and its a busy time for me. My two greatest loves in this world is theater and the ocean. Im a huge surfer and swimmer and on my 15th birthday i got to go scuba diving and its still to this date, its one of my all time favorite experiences. Its something I'm extremely interested in and once I'm in college I have a plans to finally dive more and study marine bio. This job sounds like a dream! Still figuring out where I am going to school will be a big decision, and whether I get accepted into a theater program. But I'm also thinking of doing diving in the summer instead of going on a senior trip but im not too sure yet.

  3. Thanks for sharing lovely, it's always nice to hear another's story. Did my open water course in 2017 and have too fallen in love. Also keen to do some ocean clean ups. Did I hear you say that you can do these for free?

  4. Hey awesome video! I also love diving! Do you think you could check out my diving videos and maybe subscribe if you enjoy? You earned a sub from me! Keep up the great work!

  5. your friend was really cool to help you to get out of the funk you were in, after your breakup.

in my opinion, it's so important to have people, that care about us, or that we care about (or a nice mix of both), so that, we can get through tough times.

we persevere, thinking of others, and what we mean to them (even what we might mean to strangers, that we have yet to help in some small, or large way). maybe, that food you give to the person on the side of the road, with the sign saying "anything helps," is starving, literally. and we give them, something to eat, or drink. we treat them with dignity and respect, regardless of how they respond.

we are all going to have hard times and good times in life. how do we help others to get through their tough times?

you've done so many constructive, helpful, things since your break up. i'm proud of you. keep on doing good in the world. you are making a difference. your videos make a difference in my life. thank you.

  6. Hey, thank you for your story. I´m kinda starting mine and I´m super nervous and unsure of what is going to happen. I´m from Spain and I´ve decided to fo do my Dive Master and Instructor course in Bali. I´m leaving February 28th 2018!! I love to think that I will be able to make a living out of Scuba Diving but for me its so far away from home its just daunting. Anyways, thanks for your video. Very inspiring !! If you wan to do it, just do it !!!

  7. Thanks for sharing

hi i have join your channel because of good quality content 🙂

Would appreciate if you could view my channel and maybe join too 🙂

  8. I hate when people say “diving is extremely expensive” it isn’t at all. Expensive to start sure but once you get all your equipment it’s 7 bucks to fill a tank. I spend 150 an hour-two hours shooting. Stop saying that , that’s how you push people away from it.

  9. I want to become diving instructor. Please explain it in detail what is a first step in it and how much it cost please make brief video!! Love your video's from India 🇮🇳 Thank you.

  10. Hey Kat! Just come across your channel and this video! I’ve just undertaken my DMT in the U.K having dived the GBR, Thailand Egypt and Greece as well as Lake Michigan in the USA! End goal by 2020 is to be a certified PADI OWSI!

  11. I would love to go to Australia, Bahamas or somewhere tropical to dive! I'm from Louisiana, and the closest dive spot is Florida panhandle.. seems like every dive is a deep dive… no coral reefs, all artificial reefs made by wrecks… it's cool, but I want to see coral reefs!!! But hopefully I can work up to an instructor someday 🙂

  12. Diving has changed my life in more ways than I expected. Scuba has taught me many lessons for my everyday life.

  13. I started my preparation for the divemaster course. I want to become an instructor. Привет из России:)
