UH volleyball player named Freshman of the Week

Greeley: “I FEEL LIKE SINCE I GOT THE HONOR AS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK, I HAVE TO GIVE A LOT MORE, GIVE IT ALL ON THE COURT TO SHOW I DESERVED IT.” Shoji: “IF YOU LOOK AROUND THE COUNTRY FRESHMAN DON’T HIT 25-PERCENT, AND SHE’S DONE WELL, PLAYS GOOD DEFENSE, PASSES, BLOCKS, SO SHE DOES EVERYTHING REALLY WELL, NO SURRISE SHE GOT FRESNMAN OF THE WEEK.” After taking TWO “on the road” top open CONFERENCE play over weekend, Hawaii outside-hitter Kalei Greeley, was named Big West Conference FRESHMAN of the WEEK yesterday. Rainbow Wahine are 10- and-3, and BACK in the top-25, sitting at number-24 in this week’s national rankings. OVERALL now, head coach Dave Shoji’s ladies have won FIVE in a row, last FOUR via SWEEP. Team plays on their “Home Court” this weekend, hosting Fullerton and Irvine. Ultimately, U-H women’s volleyball is NOT yet where the wanna be, but they’re on the “Right Track”. UN-BEATEN in the Big West, and TOPS in-conference putting-up over THREE blocks per set. The “Leading Lady” at the net, junior middle-blocker Olivia Magill, she’s TOPS in the B-W-C with 71-blocks. Shoji: “WELL WE HAVEN’T PLAYED THE BEST TEAM, SO I’M A LITTLE CAUTIOUS TO SAY WE’RE REALLY ON A ROLL. I’M A LITTLE HESITANT TO SAY WE’RE ON A ROLL BUT THE WINS ARE NICE AND WE’LL TAKE IT, BUT WE REALLY NEED TO BE BETTER. WE PRACTICED POORLY IN THE MORNING LAST WEEK, SO WE MADE IT A POINT TO BE MORE ENERGETIC, YOU KNOW WE START AT 6 AM, THAT’S PRETTY EARLY FOR ANYBODY.” U-H versus Fullerton Friday, they’re 0-and-2 in the Big West.
